Basic Function

Northern Virginia Community College is accepting applications for an IT Summer Camp Instructor. The position is responsible for teaching a one week-long summer camp. The camp will take place from 9:00am to 4:00pm Monday through Friday, and will prepare high school students to take the CompTIA certification exam in one of the following areas: A+, Network+, or Security+.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

• Implement already existing IT curriculum in only one of the following areas: A+, Network+, or Security+. (Subject area will depend on the teacher’s competency, preference, and classroom demand.)
• Teach the summer camp session for high school students
• Plan and manage the classroom time, scheduled for 9:00am-4:00pm Monday through Friday for one week
• Monitor students’ class attendance and academic progress
• Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree IT or related field, or equivalent applicable experience or training.
• Previous experience teaching high school students
• expertise in one of the following areas: A+, Network+, Security+ (certification is not required)

Preferred Qualifications Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

•Knowledge of IT educational programming
•Ability to teach high school students in at least one of the following areas: A+, Network+, OR Security+
•Ability to manage a classroom and teach curriculum
•Strong organizational skills, as well as written and verbal communication skills
