The Institutional Research & Contract Compliance Associate reports to the Director, Institutional Research & Contract Compliance and is responsible for working with the necessary Business Intelligence and query tool software to review and ensure UMUC is in compliance with its contracts. It is desired that the Institutional Research & Contract Compliance Associate have an understanding of how to read and write SQL statements to support reporting requirements. This position also supports the reporting needs of stakeholders by building queries and reports on an ad-hoc and regular basis while maintaining the appropriate levels of confidentiality. The Institutional Research & Contract Compliance Associate will act as the primary record keeper of all applicable UMUC overseas contracts and maintain records of audit reviews.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Work with Business Intelligence software to build and maintain reports
  • Analyze database integrity to provide qualitative and quantitative reports and analyses
  • Monitor database outputs to verify key performance indicators and to communicate to appropriate department heads areas of concern
  • Ensure data integrity and timeliness of -regular contract reports
  • Generate reporting inquiries regularly and on an ad-hoc basis, including general enrollment statistics
  • Respond to analytics requests from internal stakeholders and participate in data meetings/present findings
  • Maintain all necessary documentation of the Department of Defense (DoD) contracts, audit reviews, and provide additional support for the Office of Legal Affairs stateside for items included in the applicable overseas contracts
  • Work with Business Intelligence and Student Information System (SIS) query tools to monitor and build necessary reports to ensure UMUC is in compliance with its overseas contracts both regularly and upon request
  • Provide reports to appropriate external stakeholders (such as CORs, ESOs, and ESSs) while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality to the University
  • Serve as POC for the respective division’s Annual Contractor Evaluation Report to include building and maintain in-process reviews and presentations, which includes reporting to the Vice President and Director of the division and/or appropriate stakeholders of areas of contracts deficiencies
  • Serve as POC for USM audit affairs, in close coordination with the division’s Vice President and Business Office
  • Master new programming and scripting languages

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:

  • Work with Student Information Systems (SIS) query tools to build and maintain queries
  • Build, maintain, and monitor student surveys through third-party survey software

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a U.S. regionally accredited institution or foreign degree equivalent
  • Two (2) years related experience
  • Highest standards of integrity and confidentiality
  • Excellent administrative, professional, and interpersonal skills
  • Efficient, focused, well organized, and high attention to detail
  • Ability to adapt to changing short-term priorities while consistently supporting and contributing to the achievement of long-term goals
  • Ability to write and read SQL query statements

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a U.S. regionally accredited institution or foreign degree equivalent in an Information Systems or-related field
  • Two (2) years of experience with Business Intelligence software (specifically SAP’s Business Objects)
  • Experience with Student Information Systems (SIS), analytical and data visualization software, databases, query building, Oracle SQL, and Tableau
  • Demonstrated mastery of Microsoft Suite, especially in Excel
  • Experience with military contracts and military contract proposal writing
