Summary

The Law Fellow for Health Sciences Center (HSC) will support Tulane's Office of the General Counsel with an emphasis on the University's research mission and healthcare obligations.   The Fellow will be assigned a diverse range of research and projects handled by the Office of the General Counsel, including issues related to healthcare, contracts, clinical and basic science research, privacy, compliance, litigation, conflicts of interest, intellectual property, tax and non-profit law, higher education law, business transactions, international programs, and general business transactions.   The Law Fellow will review and draft agreements, assist with policy development, draft position statements and cease and desist letters and monitor trends and news in higher education. He/She will also assist in-house counsel to ensure the Tulane School of Medicine, including the Tulane National Primate Research Center, the Tulane University Medical Group Practice Plan, and the School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine are in compliance with applicable law and regulations, including those related to managed care contracting, Stark/Anti-kickback law, HIPAA, Medicaid/Medicare. This Fellowship supports the Office of the General Counsel with an emphasis on the University's research mission and healthcare obligations.

 This is a one-year fellowship, which may be renewed for one additional year. 

Required Qualifications

  • Juris Doctorate Degree within the last year, including Spring 2019  

Preferred Qualifications

  • Tulane Juris Doctorate Preferred
  • Eligibility for admission to Louisiana Bar within one year
  • Class ranking - Top 30%
