Job Description:


Fredonia's University Student Health Center seeks qualified candidates for a part-time, temporary nurse practitioner position for the Fall 2019 semester beginning on Monday, August 26, 2019 and ending on Thursday, December 19, 2019, to work Monday - Thursday from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm excluding Fall Break (October 10, 2019) and Thanksgiving Break (November 25-28,2019). Working in a team-oriented environment and utilizing a working knowledge and understanding of SUNY and campus policies and procedures, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing direct patient care including physical assessments, review of history, obtaining of vital signs, and providing appropriate follow-up and referral in accordance with the mission, vision, core values, and strategic plan of the Student Health Center while maintaining strict adherence to confidentiality, state laws, rules and regulations of the New York State Office of the Professions, and departmental policies and procedures. The Nurse Practitioner works in collaboration with the Director, Nurse Practitioners/College Physician and other Health and Counseling staff.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Provides primary and direct medical care with an emphasis on health/wellness promotion and education activities.
  • Initiates diagnostic procedures and evaluates results. May occasionally be required to perform laboratory testing procedures in the absence of a nurse.
  • Formulates medical and nursing diagnosis.
  • Develops and implements appropriate treatment plans, using guidelines established with the collaborative physician.
  • Evaluates care, reformulates plans, and provides follow-up treatment or referral as needed.
  • Documents above clearly and completely in the electronic medical records system.
  • Maintains indicated infection control measures, including standard precautions for body fluids.
  • Be aware of, understand, and follow all university policies.


Requirements:


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


  • Masters Degree in Nursing, one as family NP or Adult NP.
  • New York State Licensed Nurse Practitioner.
  • Two-year experience as a primary care nurse practitioner after license.
  • Demonstrated commitment and ability to work with a diverse group of students.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


  • National certification.
  • Experience as a nurse practitioner in a college health setting.


Additional Information:


This is a part-time, temporary, per diem position for the fall 2019 semester only - 30 hours per week, only when classes are in session
