Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Assistant Director of the Student Program Office is responsible for leading and administering the student program activities associated with co-curricular and extra-curricular student development programming (such as student onboarding, team coaches, student leaders). This position will be required to work with multiple Jones School stake holders: students, faculty, administration, alumni, and corporate partners. The Assistant Director will work to develop and implement innovative and creative programming that will enhance the student engagement experience, and culture and will continue to forward the Rice Business mission.

Education Required Bachelor's Degree Major/Discipline Substitution for Education Requirement

Experience may not be substituted for the education requirement.

Education Preferred

Master’s degree.

Experience Required 1 year Type of Experience

Related experience in student services and / or program administration or other closely related field.

Substitution for Experience Requirement

Education may not be substituted for the experience requirement.

Experience Preferred

Two years of related experience in higher education program administration and/or student services.

License/Certification Required License/Certification Preferred Skills Required

- Good organizational and time management skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite

Internal / External Contacts

Internal Jones School stakeholder interaction includes working with faculty, students, and staff to develop and deliver programs that enhance the student experience associated with all student programs.

External stakeholder interaction includes working with alumni, Jones Partners, non-Jones Rice University departments that enhance the MBA programs at the Jones School.

May also have contact with prospective students and other university departments, specifically the office of Graduate Studies and the University Registrar.

- Administers the daily operations of assigned program(s) with general guidance of a faculty member or a senior staff member
- Conducts research, analyzes data, identifies trends and develops reports
- Plans and monitors annual project budgets, assists in the development of longer terms budget plans
- Recommends and implements outreach plans, including communications, events, marketing, conferences, etc.
- Plans and coordinates logistical aspects of recruitment activities
- Provides support to faculty, staff and students as related to the program

For academic programs, assists with:
- Co-curricular and Extra-Curricular Leadership Programming
- Oversees peer coaching program
- Advises student teams and organizations
- Advises Board Fellows Program
- Peer Bench-marking
- Oversees On-boarding Process
- Performs all other duties as assigned
