Job Summary:

Visiting Instructor in History with a focus on American Indian studies. Of special interest is work that considers regional tribes. This is a full-time, temporary position that begins in August of 2019. In addition to teaching, this unique NWCCD opportunity also offers the following amenities:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Have a passion for student-centered learning and student engagement.
  • Teach survey courses in American History, Western Civilization, and 2000-level courses in specialty areas (The American West, Native American History, etc.)
  • Content knowledge
  • Ability to work in a collaborative fashion with a variety of faculty and community stakeholders in an environment that values collegiality and respectful-and-caring treatment of all.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse population that represents a wide range of abilities and ages.
  • Use of a media-rich classroom
  • Interactive pedagogical teaching techniques

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Teaching experience with first and second year college students
  • Master’s Degree in History or a related field

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach courses within the History Department, including general education requirements and program electives
  • Community and campus engagement via the new Multicultural Student Center and community partnerships
