This position carries with it the obligation to uphold the Mission of North Central Texas College in carrying out the duties of the position. It is the responsibility of the teaching faculty to provide learning activities and support that will lead to the achievement of course and program objectives and to contribute to the overall educational environment of the college and community and to provide related services such as academic advising, committee participation, professional development, community development as well as other service support that is needed in the fulfillment of the North Central Texas College’s Mission.

Duties include:
• Treats students and colleagues with respect.
• Active involvement in issues of institutional effectiveness including student learning outcomes, program level outcomes, and marketable skill achievement.
• Focuses teaching and outreach efforts on student success.

Responsibilities & Duties:
The Astronomy Adjunct Instructor assumes responsibility for performance of all functions generally identified by the college as within the realm of the instructor including:
•Developing and teaching college courses in Astronomy
•Familiar with current curriculum in Astronomy
•Classes scheduled during the day, evenings, or online
•Participation in planning, implementing and evaluating the teaching-learning process in the classroom
•Maintaining accurate and complete course records as required by North Central Texas College.
•Attending departmental meetings and participating in planning, implementing and evaluating assigned courses.
•Meet North Central Texas College criteria for position of instructor.
•Work effectively within a group or independently; student oriented and able to meet deadlines.

Employee may be required to travel between campuses and attend local and out-of-town meetings as necessary. Subject to criminal background check. Resume, unofficial transcripts, and teaching philosophy required in addition to application. Salary: $580/semester hour. Position begins Fall 2018.

Required Education

Master’s degree in Physics or a Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in Physics.

•Ability to create and present instructional lessons based on course objectives
•Ability to assess student learning
•Ability to interact effectively with a diverse population

Preferred Skills & Abilities Required Experience

None required.

Preferred Experience

Community College, Dual Credit and/or Public School teaching experience preferred.
