Overview

Macalester College seeks to hire a part-time Summer Lifeguard/ Swim Instructor to support the patrons of Riley Pool at the Leonard Center. This role oversees all activities taking place in the Riley Pool including but not limited to: lifeguard for open/lap swim Monday through Friday; option to teach/instruct swim lessons for Learn to swim program Monday through Friday as well as lifeguard for special events and activities scheduled in the pool.

 

The pool has open hours from 9:30AM to 1:00PM and 3:00PM to 8:30PM. Preference is given to individuals who can work a full day option (9:30AM to 1:00PM & 3:00PM to 8:30PM) or a half day option (9:30AM-1:00PM or 3:00PM-8:30PM). However, we are willing to work with you based on your schedule!  

Responsibilities

 

  • Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency.
  • Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
  • Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintains a high standard of customer service.
  • Performs various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.
  • Prepares and maintains appropriate activity reports.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Experience working in aquatics (Lessons or Aquatic Teams).
  • Experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • CPR Certification required.
  • Current certification as Lifeguard by a recognized source of training.
