POSITION TITLE:COORDINATOR, TUTORING AND LEARNING CENTER
STATUS:Part time

REPORTS TO:Director of Academic Intervention and Accommodation Services
PLACEMENT: Professional, grade 8
MINIMUM PAY RATE:$23.09 hourly

POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director of Academic Intervention and Accommodation Services, the coordinator oversees the day-to-day administration and operational support of JJC’s Tutoring and Learning Center (TLC), Assists with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, and supporting TLC staff at multiple locations. This position requires working collaboratively with faculty, staff, and designated departments at multiple campus locations to address the academic support needs of JJC students. The coordinator gathers, assesses, and strategically reports data that indicates student engagement, learning, and overall development. The administration of tutoring services reflects the complex and growing needs of JJC students, is consistent with the mission of the college, and addresses the intentional learning outcomes identified by the division of student development.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Professionally represent Joliet Junior College and uphold the College’s core values.
2.Coordinate the tutoring services administered within the TLC; this includes supporting the management of these services at all campus and education center locations; contribute to the strategic plans for the ongoing and projected tutoring and academic support needs of the campus and students.
3.Support the hiring, supervision, scheduling, and evaluation of all staff assigned to the department.
4.Provide consistent and high quality in-person and online tutoring services; coordinate with academic affairs to allow faculty to provide workshops, tutoring, and similar services within the TLC. Provide input to staff evaluations, co-conduct staff evaluations with Director, and provide recommendations for hire to Director.
5.Support management of allocated budget and associated resources assigned to meet tutoring needs of JJC students and District 525 community members as appropriate. Contribute to budget planning by providing recommendations to Director to address immediate and long-term goals.
6.Support the management of the JJC academic intervention support tool by responding to faculty tutoring requests in a timely manner; coordinate contact with students flagged by faculty/staff for tutoring assistance, and staff to response to meeting students’ tutoring demands; develop student success strategies to support JJC’s academic intervention program; create tutoring services to accommodate students on academic caution and others deemed “at risk”; actively participate as a member of the college’s academic intervention team.
7.Work collaboratively with Director of Financial Aid/ Veterans to provide leadership of Title IV-funded positions including, but not limited to, America Reads, America Counts, and other community service literacy positions; provide regular scholarship essay workshops; effectively partner with all Student Development areas to provide tutoring sessions, workshops, and resources as appropriate; partner with college bridge initiatives.
8.Continuously evaluate tutoring needs to determine whether services should be added or removed; through this evaluation process, consult regularly with Academic Affairs and Student Development faculty and staff.
9.Effectively partner with Academic Affairs to provide professional development to TLC tutors, to allow faculty to serve on tutor search committees, and to invite faculty to provide tutoring services within a TLC location.
10.Serve as departmental administrator for college administrative tools (Ellucian Colleague, SARS, Academic Success Tracker, myJJC Portal, etc.) to track tutoring traffic, trends, and support strategic initiatives; gather and distribute data generated by TLC to support strategic enrollment management initiatives and program improvement.
11.Produce weekly, monthly, annual, and ad hoc reporting to highlight tutoring activity at all locations, stakeholder satisfaction with services, effectiveness of services, departmental accomplishments and concerns, and status updates of staff professional development activities.
12.Effectively maintain and update JJC website and myJJC Portal as it pertains to tutoring and services provided by the college; effectively market TLC’s available resources to JJC students, faculty, and staff; when called upon present information and produce publications/newsletters that provide timely information related to student learning and stakeholder engagement.
13.Host interactive quarterly staff meetings, which include professional development regarding quality assurance of tutoring service delivery and best practices in the field of tutoring administration. Actively monitor tutor progression through training certification programs (currently College Reading and Learning Association International Tutor Training Program Certification); maintain TLC certification status through creating or editing training modules.
14.Contribute to the development and communication of annual and long-range goals; actively participate in Student Development priorities, college goals and objectives.
15.Perform related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1.Bachelor’s Degree.
2.Strong communication and interpersonal skills
3.Technology skills include PC, Microsoft Office, and Internet research.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1.Master’s Degree in Education, Higher Education, Counseling, Psychology, Math, English, or other Education-related field.
2.Administrative or supervisory experience.
3.Successful experience in developmental education and learning laboratories.
4.Experience providing academic support in a college setting.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1.Normal office physical demands.
2.Ability to travel between campus locations and to community events.
3.Ability to travel in state and nationally.

WORKING CONDITIONS
1.Duties are performed indoors in the usual office and/or outdoor environment.
