The Department of Life Sciences at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and Texas A&M AgriLife Research has an outstanding opportunity for a strategic full-time joint appointment position as Assistant Professor of Fisheries and Mariculture. This position will be funded by the Chancellor's Research Initiative as a transformational hire of benefit to various collaborative entities within the Texas A&M System investigating aquaculture genetics.

The successful candidate will be expected to maintain a vigorous, externally funded research program in support of PhD and Masters programs, and teach and advise graduate and undergraduate researchers at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. The successful candidate will also be expected to provide day-to-day scientific, technical, and organizational leadership within his/her research team, and be willing to advance IP considerations to ensure optimal long-term patent protection.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Texas AgriLife Research will provide start-up funding and research laboratory space in the new Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Life Sciences Building and marine wet laboratory space at the nearby Texas A&M AgriLife Research, Mariculture Research Facility. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment with Texas A&M AgriLife Research (, the Texas Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory (, and the private sector. Ample research opportunities also exist for collaboration with current cutting-edge genomic research programs on campus (, the Harte Research Institute for Gulf of Mexico Studies (, Center for Coastal Studies ( and Conrad Blucher Institute ( Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is a Hispanic Serving Institution and candidates seeking to mentor underrepresented groups in science are especially encouraged to apply.

Required Qualifications:
1. PhD in applicable field
2. At least four years' experience in working in the field of aquaculture genetics research
3. A strong record of grantsmanship and publication
4. Demonstrate a commitment to high quality research and teaching in a collaborative environment

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience in culture and marine molluscan shellfish
