Dean Assistant to the Dean of Arts and Sciences is responsible for providing complex administrative support to the Dean, chairs and faculty of the Math and Science areas of Arts and Sciences division. Responsible for coordinating the daily functions of the office.

Staff Required Education/Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.), and two (2) years of clerical, customer service, or office experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Excellent communication skills. Proven ability to multitask and meet deadlines. Attention to detail and ability to work independently.

3. Performs various clerical duties, utilizing standard office equipment, to include: distributing mail; making photocopies; sending faxes; and scheduling appointments and/or department activities.

4. Responds to requests for information in person, via e-mail, and over the phone; takes and transmits messages; answers routine questions and provides information; directs visitors to appropriate locations.

5. Prepares and/or enters a variety of information into applicable documents, spreadsheets, documents, invoices, databases, logs, forms, and/or other related areas, utilizing established guidelines and procedures. Performs basic quantitative and qualitative reviews of data.

6. Drafts and types a variety of business documents, including letters, memos, contracts, and/or other related documents.

Business and Industry Services' staff provide customized support for the community through the Small Business Center, New and Expanding Industry Training and Focused Industrial Training. The Small Business Center is designed to assist small business start-ups and to help existing businesses grow. The college's New and Expanding Industry Training office has earned national recognition for cooperative training efforts with area industries. Focused Industrial Training designs innovative educational programs for the service region's manufacturing sector.

An important function of the college is to provide educational programs on the pre-college level. Literacy Services offer adults the opportunity for meaningful social and occupational growth through Adult Basic Education (ABE), Human Resources Development (HRD), and the High School Equivalency Program (GED).
