This is a full/part-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, temporary position anticipated to end one year from the date of appointment with the possibility of reappointment and/or permanency. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
This position will provide confidential administrative support for the Student Success team led by the PSFA Assistant Dean for Student Affairs. This will include the Student Success Specialist, and the PSFA Center for Advising Support and Student Success and its staff.
This position will manage administrative assignments related to processes, projects, and events concerning student support and success in the College. The incumbent will collect and working with aggregate and disaggregated student data, provide administrative support for the planning and developing of advising strategies and tools, provide administrative support related to advising, retention, and graduation initiatives.
This position will coordinate and/or administratively support PSFA events related to student success, recruitment, retention, as well as other student-centered events.
The Assistant Dean position works with all the Schools, departments, and offices within the College, as well many offices throughout the University. The Assistant Dean and the Student Support Specialist work with the approximately 4,500 PSFA students and handle serious, complex, and often urgent situations with students. The Center for Advising Support and Student Success works with all the PSFA advisers, their directors and chairs, as well as Enrollment Services and other offices on campus providing advising and/or student support.
The incumbent is expected to:
- maintain confidentiality of student information and records.

- work collaboratively and collegially with a diverse workforce
- initiate solutions to problems.
The Coordinator will work under the direction of the PSFA Assistant Dean for Student Affairs.

Starting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $3,208 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,115 - $5,475 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

Entry to this classification requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Additionally, incumbents are expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing. Some positions may require a knowledge of business mathematics beyond basic arithmetic. The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages is also a prerequisite.
These qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience.
Preferred Qualifications and Specialized Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience working in a higher education, particularly in a student service-related office.
- Experience working with and maintaining confidential information.
- Demonstrated excellent organizational skills; ability to manage complex and multiple tasks.
- Experience with using spreadsheets for a variety of functions.
- Ability to effectively use a variety of student databases, as well as to collect, compile, and create data reports from the databases.
