The successful candidate will help create and deliver the curriculum and education of medical students in the area of physiology and the integration of that discipline into the overall curriculum. Provides for instruction using various methods of content delivery, including active learning, small group, and other interactive approaches. Participates in the writing of test questions based on NBOME and NBME styles. Applies for research grants. Acts as faculty advisor and participates in selection of students. Performs other duties as assigned.

PhD or equivalent degree in physiology or a related field from an accredited institution of higher education with postdoctoral experience.

At least 3 years of experience in an academic institution teaching physiology at the graduate or professional level, with medical school experience preferred. Good interpersonal skills, and the ability to work cooperatively and congenially within a diverse academic and clinical environment are required. Leadership skills and vision for enhancing the academic components of a multi-disciplinary department are essential. A strong record of scholarly activity, evidenced by high quality publications commensurate with the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.Other Requirements for the Position
Experience using different teaching methods which might include case-based learning, ‘flipped classroom’, problem-based learning, interactive large group presentation, audience response systems, curriculum delivery systems (e.g. Canvas or Blackboard), and proficiency in exam item (COMLEX and/or USMLE) writing; experience with curricular and instructional design; and effective communication skills. Engages in scholarly activities, publishes and presents research in appropriate journals and conferences.Special Instructions Summary
