Description of primary duties and responsibilities::

Career Services (CS) is looking for a tech-savvy, analytical, energetic, motivated, hard-working undergraduate or graduate student to join our team. The Data and Assessment Specialist is responsible for working with the Career Services’ (CS) Team in the tracking and use of assessment data. The purpose of this position is to assist CS with coordinating, monitoring and improving programming, classroom presentations and employer relations’ activities on and off campus.

Description of Work Continued::

Major Responsibilities:

•Create and maintain files to document alignment of all assessment activities within CS
•Create and maintain files of current assessment practices and tools used within CS and specifically within Handshake
•Assist the Coordinator with creating models for new practices and tools for assessment
•Assist in the collection and maintenance of data on the assessments
•Assist in the compilation of data for CS’ evaluation reports for Student Affairs and the University
•Provides administrative support to the Data and Assessments Coordinator
•Maintain a current database of students for statistical and demography purposes
•Complete other assignments, under the supervision of the Data and Assessment Coordinator and/or the Director/Assistant Director of CS
•Facilitates development of processes to track CS’ progress on different levels
•Assists in providing disaggregated assessment results for students and CS
•Serves as a resource in organizing assessments to be developed for programs, classroom presentation, and employer relations
•Submits a progress/activity report to the Director and Assistant Director of CS
•The ability to understand instructions and underlying principles, ability to reason and make judgments
•Ability to perform arithmetic operations quickly and accurately
•Ability to understand and interpret information presented in the form of charts, graphs, or tables
•Coordinate with other professionals in CS to develop and submit assessments through online outreach and promotion
using Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn
•Moderate all user-generated content in line with University policies
•Create data collection calendars/deadlines for information gathering and sharing
•Foster and collaborate with other departments across campus to develop a working relationship while gathering data and other assessment information; identifying key players and coordinating any actions that may be needed
•Report technical problems to IT support staff
•Obtain content approval from CS Director/Assistant Director before any content is posted on any sites
•Other duties as assigned

Specific work hours are flexible within the M-F; 8am – 5pm work days, some evenings may be required and will be arranged directly with the successful applicant. This position will work 20 hours per week.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements::

• Undergraduate/Graduate Student graduating May 2019 or later with experience in data management/
communications/public relations/marketing/office assistance
•Self-starter who can attend to details and is well organized
•The individual must take pride in the details of office work and be proficient at prioritization and handling multiple tasks
•Must have some experience with social media platforms (specifically, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn)
•Creative and collaborative with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn new and innovative approaches to
data management and assessments
•Understand the basic principles of public relations and/or marketing
• Professionalism, including the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
•Positive attitude, detail and customer oriented with good multitasking skills
• Excellent writing, presentation and communication skills
• Demonstrate some social networking experience and some social analytics tools knowledge
• Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team and be detailed oriented
•Knowledge of online marketing and good understanding of major marketing channels
•Work in a highly collaborative environment supporting the mission and goals of CS while reporting to the Assistant Director of Career Services

Knowledge skills and abilities::

•Exemplary knowledge in Microsoft Office Suites, especially Word, Excel, and Access and the ability to use specialized software applications with a minimum of training
• Knowledge of Adobe Suite
• Experience in communication and marketing
