Job Description:


The Educational Development Program (EDP) is the name for Fredonia's Educational Opportunity Program (EOP); an academic support services program for underprepared and financially disadvantaged students. Students benefit from advising and financial support services as participants in this program.


EDP strives to serve the needs of those students who are capable of collegiate study but need assistance in developing their unexplored abilities. These students demonstrate high motivation and potential for academic success. For more information about EDP, please visit the EDP web site.

The Director of the Educational Development Program (EDP) has the full responsibility for the leadership, management, and supervision of the operation of the Educational Development Program. The Director works to ensure the successful provision of support services for EDP students, maintains compliance with all internal and State reporting procedures and guidelines and guides the day-to-day operations of the program to promote student success in alignment with the mission of the Educational Development Program.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Prepares complete budget of the program; authorizes and administers all expenditures
  • Overall development and administration of program components, data management, outcomes assessments, and timely submission of reports.
  • Direct supervision of all professional staff, and indirect supervision of faculty and student employees working with EDP in various capacities.
  • Works collaboratively with Admissions and Financial Aid areas on all aspects of recruitment and financial aid disbursement
  • Coordination, supervision, and assessment of the orientation and first-year programs.
  • Tracking student progress and instituting intervention strategies as appropriate and necessary.
  • Builds collaborative relationships with a wide variety of College constituents to ensure academic and other support resources for students.
  • Contributes to curriculum development and refinement;
  • Provides academic advisement to students
  • Service to the department, university, profession, and state-wide community through membership on committees and participation in conferences, as appropriate.
  • Be aware of, understand, and follow all university policies.


Requirements:


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Master's degree in higher education, counseling, or related field.
  • Experience in program development and management within an academic setting that is inclusive of staff supervision, coordination of services, assessment, and reporting procedures.
  • Direct experience with program budget management, inclusive of planned expenditures, budget modifications, tracking and reporting expenditures.
  • Experience working with historically disadvantaged and/or underrepresented college students within an opportunity program, or other programs with a similar mission.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of, and applied experience with best practices for improving the recruitment, persistence, and retention of underrepresented students within higher education.
  • Knowledge of the SUNY system, college admissions, financial aid process, first-year experience programming, and general resources available to students within higher education.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Knowledge of the history, purpose, and goals of EDP/EOP and the service needs of the student population.
  • Experience working with a wide variety of College constituents from both the student affairs, enrollment, and academic affairs divisions.
  • Prior experience with student information system applications, such as Banner.
  • Proficiency in computer systems, including Microsoft Office.
  • Creative, organized, and motivated individual interested in student development.
  • Interest in, and commitment to, community engagement.


Additional Information:


This is a regional search for a full-time, term appointed, Permanent Track (SL5) position represented by UUP, beginning August 1, 2019.
