General Summary Perform all duties peculiar to and normally required in the trade of Plumber, following recognized procedures and techniques for such work as outlined in the Plumbing License Law.
Required Qualifications 1. High school graduation or equivalent.
2. Certificate of completion of apprenticeship as a Plumber under a registered Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training program
Experience sufficient to qualify as a journeyman Plumber, with a minimum of 5 years of actual work in the trade, which may have included apprenticeship and/or applicable vocational training. The trade for this purpose shall include work normally performed by Plumbers.
3. Current State of Illinois Plumber's License.
4. If this position is Security Sensitive or if you are subject to a criminal background investigation based on University policy, employment is contingent upon you passing a satisfactory criminal background investigation. You may not begin work until the criminal background investigation results have been received and cleared by Human Resources.
5. A final candidate must complete a post-offer pre-employment physical exam. Employment is contingent on the successful result of the pre-employment physical.

Hiring Rate/Range $42.30/hour
Work Hours Varied depending on training and shift availability; 2nd shift hours may be required.

Employees are only paid for hours worked and do not qualify for most benefits, including health insurance and retirement, with Illinois State University. However, Extra Help employees are eligible to participate in the University's supplemental retirement savings plans (403b). Applicable retirement information is provided at the time of hire. There is no guarantee that working as Extra Help will lead to or secure permanent employment.
Extra Help employees are paid prevailing rate per the trade. They may work full-time hours (37.5 per week) throughout their employment as Extra Help, however they are not to exceed 900 hours during each Extra Help appointment.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:
1. Perform physical labor on construction and maintenance work where skill and experience are required.
2. Ability to lift 80 pounds.
3. Work at heights or depths of at least 30 feet or more.
4. Must be able to work underground, in ceilings and in confined spaces and be able to maneuver and carry equipment to those locations.
5. Must be able to speak clearly.
6. Visual acuity to differentiate between color-coded piping.
7. Ability to bend, crouch, kneel and reach overhead.
8. Usually in and out of heated and protected areas; but, occasionally exposed to heat, cold, rain, snow, etc. .
