Overview

University Health Services at Princeton University seeks a dynamic leader to serve as the Director of Employee Health. Reporting to the Director of UHS’s Medical Services, the Director of Employee Health will be responsible for the overall management of the Employee Health Service.

University Health Services (UHS) at Princeton University is a fully accredited (Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, or “AAAHC”) health care facility. Located in the McCosh Health Center, the Caldwell Field House, and Dillon Gym, UHS provides comprehensive health services to more than 7,500 Princeton undergraduate and graduate students, and specialized services to Princeton University faculty, staff, and employees who experience work-related injuries and illnesses, or who require consultations regarding international and travel medicine.

Responsibilities

Areas of responsibility for this role include occupational healthcare, workers’ compensation, short term disability case management, immunization services and travel planning. In addition, the Director oversees medical surveillance for OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) mandated programs and relevant outreach to campus partners regarding health as it relates to employment for approximately 6,900 staff and faculty at Princeton University, and students who are employed by the University.

This key leader is responsible for ensuring that high quality occupational healthcare and client services are delivered to internal and external clients in keeping with the mission and values of UHS. This individual represents UHS in campus collaborations involved in maintaining a safe and healthy workforce on the Princeton University campus.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree is required

Current or eligible for New Jersey licensure as a registered nurse, nurse practitioner with certification, physician’s assistant or physician.

Certification as a COHN-S or related occupational health professional certification.

Working knowledge of OSHA mandated health programs, workers’ compensation laws and regulations, short term disability and the Americans with Disabilities Act in the context of addressing health and safety issues at work.

Knowledge of quality improvement principles, such as PDSAs and use of benchmarking, to drive performance improvement.

Collaborative liaison skills in order to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team at University Health Services, University administrators, faculty, and other community partners.

A consensus builder who unifies teams and effectively manages stakeholders.

Minimum of 6 to 10 years of progressive management experience of an occupational health program and supervision of clinical and administrative support staff.

Computer literacy including familiarity with the use of electronic health records.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree in Nursing, Health Administration or related field applicable to occupational health is preferred.

Experience working in a university or in a similar academic research environment is preferred.
