General Summary The Assistant Director of Marketing is an administrative professional position in University Housing Services (UHS). The position is critical to the success of all aspects of marketing and communication as it provides leadership and direction for all Housing marketing efforts. This position will continuously evaluate marketing methods and communication and determine how current methods relate to the University's overall goals and mission. This position coordinates, implements, and evaluates marketing initiatives and assesses the effectiveness of current programs and services. The Assistant Director will also assume responsibility for coordinating assessment priorities for the department.

The Assistant Director works directly with the senior Housing leadership team and reports to the Director for University Housing Services. This position works in conjunction with the Director of Marketing and Communications for Student Affairs to assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of a division-wide integrated marketing plan. This position also works closely with University Marketing and Communications. It is essential that this position also work closely and effectively with all marketing professionals within the Division and the University in order to accomplish the goals for the department and Division.
Additional Information:
Required Qualifications 1. Bachelor's degree in marketing, communication, retail marketing, or related field.
2. Minimum 3 years full-time work in Marketing or residence life/housing as well as supervisory experience.
3. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
4. Self-motivated and project-oriented with strong commitment to customer service. Strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to successfully coordinate and facilitate projects independently and with limited supervision. Proven competence in managing multiple tasks and competing priorities.
5. Ability to analyze student needs, create and implement new concepts and handle challenging situations with tact.
6. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and to relate to a variety of internal and external clients.
7. Understanding of web-based technologies and social media outreach as they relate to marketing, communication, and public relations, specifically in the field of higher education.
8. Ability to use market research and approach marketing and communication challenges creatively in a high-energy, complex university environment.
9. Sensitivity to multicultural issues, support of the creation of a diverse environment, appreciation of cultural differences and ability to facilitate the appreciation of differences for others.
10. Proficient computer skills in word processing, database, spreadsheet, and presentation programs as well as a general knowledge of graphic design standards for print and media and technical writing.
11. Excellent leadership, planning, organizational and managerial skills. Proven ability to perform as a team player.
12. Ability to speak to the media and prepare media releases.
13. If this position is Security Sensitive or if you are subject to a criminal background investigation based on University policy, this offer is contingent upon you passing a satisfactory criminal background investigation. You may not begin work until the criminal background investigation results have been received and cleared by Human Resources.
