Media Relations, Social Media, and Front-End Web Developer Position

Luther College is looking to fill open positions in our restructured Marketing and Communications department. These three positions will play key roles in successfully marketing the College:

 

Media relations and content specialist to story-mine for interesting and newsworthy stories that reflect the Luther brand; create engaging and relevant content for various Luther communication channels; and place Luther stories in external channels. This position requires excellent writing and editing skills, a minimum of two years professional experience in journalism or media relations, and a bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, communications, or public relations.

Social media specialist to manage, create and publish relevant, original content and marketing campaigns that build brand awareness and increase visibility and engagement in social media channels. This position requires an in-depth knowledge and understanding of all major social media platforms, experience with social media management software, and a bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field.

Front-end web developer to be responsible for the coding, usability and layout of the Luther College website. As the role takes into consideration both user experience and function, a certain level of both graphic design and programming experience is necessary. This position requires 3-5 years of front-end developing experience, firm understanding of UI/UX principles and best practices, expert knowledge of HTML5/Javascript/ES6/SCSS/CSS, experience working an open-source PHP-based CMS, strong competency in responsive, mobile-first layouts, and working knowledge of technical SEO, digital testing, and site analytics. This front-end web developer position is open to remote candidates with the understanding that regularly scheduled, on-campus work time will be required. As such, applicants located in the Midwest are highly preferred. This person will work with a remote-friendly team, using communication tools such as Slack, Google Hangouts, Pivotal Tracker, and Basecamp to collaborate and stay connected.
