Requirements

The office contributes to this mission by providing administrative and logistical support for Georgetown's curriculum and facilitating a culture that preserves the values of Georgetown University and its community.

The Deputy Registrar provides critical leadership to the University Registrar, university leaders and the campuses at the intersection of technology, business process and policy for the office of the University Registrar. S/he advises the University Registrar and senior level constituents on all aspects of data management, student records maintenance, technology enhancement and the implementation of new initiatives that involve technology. Reporting to the University Registrar, the Deputy Registrar has additional duties that include but are not limited to:

Project Management
  • Manage sensitive and high risk technical/functional projects on behalf of the University Registrar, including the Student Information System.
  • Coordinate the data systems for the collection, reporting, and analysis of student and course records with the various schools and the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
  • Maintain policies and practices and manage provisioning of data access for the University for all student records (FERPA protected).
  • Oversee FERPA training for all Main Campus constituents.
  • Manage the Office's Schedule of Events and OUR website and the document imaging process for student data.

Strategic Initiatives
  • Conduct needs assessment and manage technical/functional project support for campuses and programs poised for strategic programmatic growth including initiatives such as the electronic delivery and processing of transcript requests.
  • Manage strategic implementation, standardization and rationalize the delivery of student academic enterprise wide system services to the larger university community.
  • Oversee the ongoing goal alignment between Registrar's Office and OADS and other student service and academic offices.
  • Advise on all student system technical capacity/flexibility issues for university wide committees.

Management & Development
  • Supervise staff in diverse areas of operation, including the Assistant Registrar for Technology (Banner access and data access authorization), Systems and Data Management Analyst (File digitization and business operations management), Reporting and Web Services Analyst (Cognos reporting and user interface), and DegreeWorks Reporting and Maintenance (Academic Degree Requirements).
  • Develop Analytical Reports to support information distribution using SQL, Cognos and other tools as appropriate to develop and maintain analytical reports of student enrollment data.

Qualifications
  • Master's Degree
  • 10+ years of experience in higher education
  • Experience managing high visibility projects with multiple university constituents and external constituents
  • Experience in managing complex student information systems
  • Expert in all aspects of best practices in Registrar's Office function including data management and analysis, student information systems, FERPA and other compliance related mandates
  • Ability to manage long term, high visibility projects with attention to detail and excellent communication with high level constituents and management of complex technical issues with technical teams as needed
  • Ability to lead effectively and work independently while maintaining close contact at all times with the University Registrar.
  • Experience with Banner, Cognos,, SQL report development, and MS Project Management Software preferred
