The Department of Health, Exercise and Sports Studies at Denison University invites applications for a one-year full-time visiting faculty position beginning August 2019, with the possibility of up to two additional years of hire depending upon performance. We seek applicants with an earned doctorate in Exercise Science, Sport Management, Public Health, or similar discipline. ABD Candidates will also receive consideration provided they can demonstrate prior teaching excellence, and the PhD is completed within one year of the start date. All applicants should have experience using technology as well as a variety of instructional strategies to deliver instruction, evidence of outstanding teaching ability is required. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to Denison’s institutional mission of educating in the Liberal Arts tradition.

The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in quantitative methodology and managing population data. Depending on their specific area of specialization they will teach courses that utilize data to consider matters of human health, sport performance, and/or sport consumer behavior. The new faculty member must also demonstrate the ability to teach at our 200 level and deliver other courses within the HESS curriculum. The capacity to teach a research methods course in health, exercise, and sport is desirable. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a 3/3 course load per academic year, participating in departmental and college-wide activities, and if possible engaging in an active scholarly agenda/student research supervision.
