Preferred Qualifications Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of the Student Veterans Resource Center (SVRC), the SC helps to manage one or more SVRC programs within the Office of the Dean of Students, Tate Student Center and the Division of Student Affairs. To effectively contribute to the success of UGA student veterans, the PC must: provide excellent customer service; optimize resourcing w/ programmatics; and administer appropriate policies and procedures while fostering partnerships with students, faculty, staff, community/corporate leaders, and alumni.

1. Proven management skills that include competencies tied to program analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation, and improvement

2. Exceptional representational skills evidenced through constructive engagements with students, veterans, faculty, staff, community leaders, corporate partners, and/or other stakeholders.

3. Experienced team player and patient coach with passion for helping students develop.

4. Outstanding oral communication skills to include the ability to offer constructive feedback.

5. Superb writer able to assist students in authoring resumes and translating military experiences.

6. Mastery of data management; proven ability to identify, query, analyze, report, and protect data

Manage the Readiness Coaching Program
•The Readiness Coaching Program is the capstone of an integrated package of support offered to UGA’s student veterans through an overarching Persistent Coaching Program that includes: orientation, Peer2Peer, Transition Coaching, Readiness Coaching). Managing the program requires the SC to:
•Partner with the Director and schools/colleges to recruit and train readiness coaches
•Coordinate efforts with the UGA Career Center and Terry College to ensure alignment
•Engage w/ second and third-semester students to market their participation in the program
•Coordinate assignment of students with available faculty/staff readiness coaches
•Serve as the Senior or Lead Readiness Coach
•Oversee referrals by coaches to appropriate follow-on support
•Monitor student progress/performance within the readiness program AND engage as needed
•Assess the readiness program through pre-post scores, networking, conversion rates, placement
•Maintain program consistency across all coaches while continuously improving the process
•Determine placement rates each year through ongoing 1:1 relationships with undergraduates

Manage the Corporate Connect Program
•Facilitate initial engagement with potential employers interested in hiring UGA student veterans
•Triage engagement to determine interest and assess fit
•If viable, coordinate contact through the Director and the Career Center
•If approved, develop an initial engagement strategy that starts with a phone call or visit
•Present the SVRC “Got Your Six” Slide Deck
•After engagement determine employer marketing strategy
•Using the Center’s concierge model, work with the Director and supporting coaches to facilitate internships and career ops that actively connect students to employers
•Establish and maintain an up-to-date Employer Database
•Alert Director of any employer interested in donating money to SVRC
•Oversee the collection of student placement data

Organize and Facilitate Special Events
•There are currently five classes of events that represent the bulk of the SVRC’s activities: (1) Fall Meet and Greets, (2) Veterans Week Reception and Tail Gate, (3) Spring Meet and Greets (4) Spring Honor Cord Reception (5) Employer-related Breakfasts. All events will require the following:
•Determine where and when the event will be held and how it will be funded
•Formally schedule the event and all equipment/furnishings associated with it
•Determine who to invite, and when to invite them
•Determine who to market the invite and track RSVPs
•Determine how the event will flow and how the venue will be configured
•Determine how visitors will be handled (parking, intros etc)
•Determine how and when student registration will occur
•Determine how the Run of Show will flow and who will host it
•Determine what food and drink will be required and where and when will it be secured
•Coordinate the event with the SVA, students, the Dean and stakeholder
•Manage the event in partnership with the Director

Administer a Viable Data Management Program
•Data lies at the heart of our programs and evolving processes. This role ensures data is identified, collected and secured for timely and accurate decision making.
•Identify sources of critical data required of our programs to include:
•Admissions: Incoming Students Veterans
•Registrar: Enrolled Student Veterans
•Bursar: DoD Affiliated Students Using TA
•OIR: GPA, Persistence, Retention, Graduation Rates
•Work with stakeholders to access data and appropriately secure it
•Maintain file structures and access rights that enable safe and timely access to sensitive data
•Develop data queries using EXCEL and/or TABLEAU to answer critical questions
•Coordinate with external offices (i.e. Bursar, Registrar, Admissions, OIR) to answer data questions outside of our control
•Ensure all users of data are FERPA-cleared and access passed to our Data Stewards
•Develop reliable/valid measures, trends, slides, and reports which aid in decision making
