POSITION SUMMARY:
The Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences (CASBS) @ Stanford brings together deep thinkers from diverse disciplines and communities to advance understanding of the full range of human beliefs, behaviors, interactions, and institutions. A leading incubator of human-centered knowledge, CASBS facilitates collaborations across academia, policy, industry, civil society, and government to collectively design a better future.
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Development & Associate Dean for External Relations for the Dean of Research, the CASBS Director of Development serves as the chief development officer for the Center. He/she works closely with the Center Director, Associate Director, and Chair of the Board Development Committee and Board Nominating Committee to design and implement the Center's fundraising plans at various donor levels and for a range of purposes. The primary goal is to raise major gifts, either for endowment or for current use. He/she manages the Center's Annual Giving program with the involvement of other Center staff as appropriate. The Director of Development collaborates closely with colleagues in Stanford's central Office of Development and with development colleagues throughout the university.
JOB PURPOSE:
Plan and implement a specific fund-raising program for CASBS. Operate independently in assigned areas and take responsibility for prospect identification and solicitation, proposal development, and coordination of internal support activities. Work with staff, donors, volunteers, and other university staff to assist in establishing and maintaining relationships with all university constituencies.
