The Executive Director leads the successful development, implementation, and operation of the 10,000 Small Businesses Program and entrepreneurship program at Miami Dade College. Oversees all components of the business and management education program, including participant recruitment, local partnerships, the refinement and delivery of curriculum and business services, the day-to-day program management for the college, and the program measurement and evaluation system. The Executive Director demonstrates vision, management expertise, an in-depth knowledge of small business growth strategies, and an understanding of service delivery operations. Possesses the ability to manage people in a fast-paced environment, manage a budget, and design effective programs to deliver for program participants. Integral components of the position are relationship management and ensuring that the curriculum, business services, networking, and mentoring components are comprehensive and enable small businesses to grow and lead to job creation. This is a Professional Exempt Contractual (PEC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College’s District Board of Trustees. This grant position will be eligible for participation in the Florida Retirement System (FRS) after 6 consecutive months of continuous employment. This is a temporary position.

    Launches, operates, and continuously improves the program to help small businesses expand and create jobs Evaluates, recommends, develops, and effectively manages all partner relationships with local organizations, and associationsIdentifies strategic opportunities to develop a sustainable program within the college settingBuilds and sustains a high performing site team to deliver program’s visionCoordinates efforts across different areas of the college to deliver a unified and comprehensive program Facilitates communication and manages relationships with College personnelOversees all operations of the program including staffing, budgeting, service delivery, and curriculum Oversees and monitors the implementation and ongoing management of the measurement and evaluation system, including the selection and analysis of effective site performance metrics Ensures the high quality service delivery and tight integration of the academic, business support services, and the opportunity to access capital componentsDevelops targeted outreach, marketing and recruitment plans to attract the right businesses to the programNetworks with business support services organizations and other key stakeholders to enhance the local entrepreneurship ecosystem and to advance program recruitmentOversees events, clinics, and graduations for participants

  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in Business, Public Administration, Government Affairs or related field and six (6) years of management experience with a track record of progressive responsibility in either a private industry, large community, or governmental organization, including experience with operating a small business and/or in-depth knowledge of growth strategies for small businesses; or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Administration, Government Affairs or related field and ten (10) years of management experience as specified above
  • All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
  • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and proceduresAbility to demonstrate vision, management expertiseIn-depth knowledge of small business growth strategies, and an understanding of service delivery operationsAbility to effectively manage people in a fast-paced environment, manage grants and budgets, and design effective programs to deliver for program participantsWorking knowledge in building and mentoring a high performance management team in a complex organization with demonstrable skill in developing strong teams and collaborationsKnowledge of how to develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and a wide range of business, industry, and community partnersPossess excellent interpersonal skills Ability to demonstrate vision, management expertise.
