Upward Bound Central Prep Instructor (Grant Funded, Temporary) - Upward Bound
Instructors are responsible for providing instruction to college-bound high school students in specific tops/content area. Current needed subjects: Foreign Language, Math, English Composition, English Literature, and Reading. The Instructor will develop curriculum materials and implement a course of instruction in the specialty area which provides students with the opportunity to enhance their academic skills necessary to successfully complete high school, matriculate through a post-secondary institution and graduate.Department Specific Essential Job Functions
Presents classroom instruction in Reading/English, Performing Arts, Spanish, Science, and Math during 6-week Summer Program. Provides instruction in relevant academic areas necessary for secondary and post-secondary success of Upward Bound participants.Qualifications/Experience Required
Bachelor's degree in field related to instruction subject and at least 3+ years of relevant experience in the specific field that provides knowledge of and exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and concepts. Experience with inquiry-based hands-on learning experiences. Experience working with youth from diverse backgrounds. Sensitivity to respond appropriately to the needs of a diverse population.Qualifications/Experience Preferred
Must be current UCO faculty and/or certified Oklahoma High School teacher.Physical Demands
Repetitive movement of hands and fingers - typing and/or writing. Frequent standing, and/or sitting. Occasional walking, stooping, kneeling or crouching. Reach with hands and arms. Visually identify, observe and assess. Ability to communicate with supervisor/students/colleagues. Regular physical attendance required.
