Claflin University invite applicants to apply for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Religion and Biblical Studiesposition in the Department of Humanities.  



The department is seeking an innovative and visionary scholar who is proficient in the area of religious studies, spirituality, church history, biblical languages, culture, and broadly American and African American historical studies as well. He/she will teach courses in this area and provide guidance in developing the curriculum and departmental programs, advising students and other duties within the scope of this position.  



The successful candidate must possess experience in college and graduate level teaching and advising.  The candidate must have earned either the Master of Divinity degree or The Master of Theological Studies along with the Ph.D or Th.D. in Religious and Theological Studies from an accredited institution. Candidates with experience in the United Methodist Church are preferable.  He or she will also be a scholar who has a dynamic research program and broad teaching and scholarly interests in areas related to global Christianity, culture, American history, and the relationship between the Bible and public life.


SALARY:  Salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.
