The Department of Art at Claflin University is seeking applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Art Education to begin fall 2018.
ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses in the Art Education, supervise student teachers, and monitor program compliance with accreditation standards for Art Education for both CAEP and NASAD. We seek an applicant who will build relationships with K-12 educators throughout the region, and help grow the Art Education major. Provide leadership in curriculum development and credential preparation.
The successful candidate will possess the credentials and experience to teach a wide range of studio art courses, and maintain an active professional practice. Additional teaching responsibilities will include painting or sculpture, art appreciation, or other studio art courses. Candidates should have a commitment to excellent teaching and college service, including participation in student advising, assessment; and support recruitment, and retention. Candidate will act as liaison with other appropriate sectors of the campus responsible for teacher education and with the PreK-12 community. The candidate must demonstrate ongoing commitment to professional memberships and research activities in the field.
QualificationsPh.D. in Art Education or Ed.D. in Education with an Art Emphasis; 3 years art teaching experience in the K-12 US school system (or equivalent.) and college level teaching; and evidence of active scholarly and/or creative activity. K-12 credential; Evidence of comprehensive knowledge of Art Education theory and pedagogy.
SALARY: Salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.
