The English Department at Marian University-Indianapolis seeks qualified applicants for the position of Writing Instructor. This is a temporary, full-time (4/4) position with the possibility of turning into a permanent position. The writing Instructor will teach introductory and advanced creative writing courses and serve as faculty advisor for the student-led literary journal, published annually.

Marian University has been experiencing significant growth over the last decade and is expanding its academic offerings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach Introduction to Creative Writing and Advanced Creative Writing.
  • Advise student publication of literary journal – one release per semester.
  • Teach required general education writing courses.
  • Attend department and writing program meetings.

  • Participate in the life of the campus and university service.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • M.F.A.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of Marian University.
    • Evidence of capacity for effective teaching in higher education.
    • Experience teaching college level first-year writing
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated, collaborative, and able to work independently with colleagues throughout the university and in the community.
