The Department of Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences in the College of Pharmacy at the University of Rhode Island invites applications for two tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor positions beginning fall 2019 in the general areas of biotherapeutic drugs.

Duties and responsibilities:

Develop a vibrant research program in the area of biotherapeutic drugs. Seek extramural funding to support research from the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, or a similar federal agency. Publish high quality primary research articles in peer-reviewed journals. Teach undergraduate and/or graduate level courses in the pharmaceutical sciences and Doctor of Pharmacy degree programs. Provide advising and research mentorship to undergraduate and graduate students. Engage in service activities and governance within the College, University and scientific community.

Qualifications

Required:

1. Earned doctorate (Ph.D./D.Phil./Sc.D.) in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmacology, or a related field.

2.Demonstrated experience for developing a research program in the area of biotherapeutic drugs.

3. Demonstrated ability to mentor undergraduate students in research.

4.Demonstrated ability to mentor graduate students in research.

5.Demonstrated record of publications in peer-reviewed journals in an area relevant to biotherapeutic agents, including, but not limited to, monoclonal antibodies, antibody-drug conjugates, oligonucleotide/peptide therapeutics, and cell-based immunotherapies.

6.Demonstrated excellence teaching courses relevant to our Pharmaceutical Sciences and Doctor of Pharmacy degree programs.

7.Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills in English.

8.Demonstrated proficiency in oral communication skills in English.

9.Demonstrated experience working with diverse groups/populations.

Preferred:

1.A research focus that will complement existing research in the department, including, but not limited to, neurodegenerative diseases, liver and metabolic diseases, DNA damage/repair, drug development, and pharmacokinetics.
