DescriptionThe Department ofLanguages and Culturesat the Universityof Colorado Colorado Springs seeks a full-time instructor of Japanese Language and Culture. Thesuccessful candidate will be fluent in Kanji and vocabulary words at all levelsof the Japanese language and be competent in sentence conjugation in Japanese.Fluency in American English is also required. The job will entail teaching aminimum of 12 credit hours per semester/24 credit hours per year.

 Job Duties:
  • Teach all levels from beginning through advanced Japanese
  • Developand teach courses on Japanese culture and coordinate courses with cross-listed departments (currently ArtHistory/VAPA)
  • Overseethe minor in Japanese, including advising students
  • Workwith the Chair and Associate Chair in fully integrating the Japanese minor intothe department
  • Workwith the Associate Chair to advise students pursuing the InterdisciplinaryStudies Degree with Japanese and/or Asian Studies as a primary field
  • Coordinateand supervise additional lecturers hired to teach additional sections ofJapanese language or to teach a one-time special topic

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
  • MAin Japanese language
  • 9months of experience in teaching in Higher Education
 Preferred Qualifications:
  • PHD in Japanese or a related field (MA inJapanese language is required)
  • Graduatelevel coursework in Japanese history and culture
  • 9months of experience in directing program(s) in Higher Education
