Job Summary:

Waubonsee Community College seeks a full-time, tenure-track Instructor of Business with a demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence, diversity, equity and holistic student success to deliver a broad range of courses within the Business curricular portfolio including Business, Management, and Marketing.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for teaching sections of Business Administration, Management and or Marketing courses. The candidate will demonstrate commitment to an interdisciplinary focus, experience with innovative learning strategies, the ability to enhance the success of diverse student populations, and the ability to effectively use instructional and classroom technology to enhance teaching and learning.

Duties and expectations include, but are not limited to:

  • Designing syllabi, lessons, activities, assignments, and assessments to address different learning styles and to ensure that students successfully meet course objectives and outcomes.
  • Incorporating learning-centered principles and concepts and motivating students to participate actively in all aspects of the educational experience.
  • Demonstrating commitment to continuous improvement and ongoing professional growth.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues throughout the college to achieve equitable outcomes for all students and to serve the needs of students and community.
  • Employing instructional and classroom technology appropriately and effectively to deliver and enhance teaching and learning in online, hybrid and face-to-face courses.
  • Assisting in leading the Business department in the areas of curriculum development, student success initiatives, student advising, adjunct faculty mentorship, assessment of student learning, support for student clubs and organizations.
  • Participating in divisional and college-wide committees and events.
  • Demonstrating excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills in the classroom, and with colleagues.
  • Teaching assignment may include days, evenings and/or weekends at four campuses throughout the district - Sugar Grove, Aurora Downtown, Aurora Fox Valley, and Plano. Courses may be offered in various delivery modes, i.e. face-to-face, online, and hybrid.

Education & Experience

Position Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Business, or a Master’s degree in related field and 18 graduate credit hours in Business.
  • Two years teaching experience in Business.
  • Demonstrated expertise and experience with online and/or hybrid delivery.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Business
  • Post- secondary teaching experience in Business
  • Online teaching experience
  • Experience teaching traditionally underserved populations
  • Experience teaching courses in Business Management and Marketing
