Assistant or Associate Professor
•Teach foundational sciences and coordinate a 9-credit problem-based learning course in the entry-level DPT program. The course integrates small discussion groups, classroom, clinical and anatomy lab activities through case-based learning. The semester coordinator manages these integrated learning environments. This role requires management, interpersonal, and lecturing skills. The majority of the teaching load is foundational sciences, kinesiology, and biomechanics, and musculoskeletal physiology. Additional teaching responsibilities throughout the curriculum will be based on candidate’s knowledge, but may include other basic science, research or clinical topics/courses within the graduate program.
•Duties as assigned within the graduate Physical Therapy program.
•Engage in scholarly activities that contribute to a focused academic and professional body of knowledge. The extent of scholarship expected depends on the individual’s credentials and whether hired as tenure or clinical track.
•Be compliant with university and applicable New York State laws and regulations.
•Participate in University and Department committee assignments as designated.
•If a licensed health care professional, clinical practice within the format permitted by Clarkson University may be negotiated. Such clinical practice should focus on the priority of enhancing scholarly activity.
Minimum qualifications include knowledge of foundational sciences in physical therapy, including kinesiology, biomechanics or physiology. The ideal candidate will possess a record of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service. Candidates should be comfortable working in a highly interactive and collaborative teaching/learning environment. A minimum of a professional doctoral-level degree (DPT, t-DPT) is required for a clinical track position. Clinical track candidates must be eligible for physical therapy licensure in the state of New York. A doctoral-level research degree (e.g., PhD, DSc, EdD) or ABD is required for a tenure-track position.Preferred Qualifications
