DESCRIPTION:

Middle Georgia State University is seeking candidates for the full time position of Chief Helicopter Pilot. This position aids the department with providing leadership of the department alongside the Department Chair. This position is FAA approved and will represent the school according to FAA standards. The Chief Helicopter Pilot will oversee the flight operations of four helicopters, supervise three to four flight instructors as well as teach private and commercial ground school.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED BY THE POSITION INCLUDE:

Knowledge and level of competency associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work; knowledge of computers and job-related software programs; skill to make timely decisions; skill in decision making and problem solving; skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public; and skill in oral and written communication.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be a night vision goggle instructor, external load instructor, and have knowledge of finances to manage the flight budget. Must hold the following FAA certificates: Commercial rotary helicopter certificate with Instrument rating (Airline Transport Pilot preferred), as well as a Certified Flight Instructor and Instrument Flight Instructor certificate. Must have 1,500 PIC Helicopter and 400 dual given (Cabri G2 experience and 180 lbs. preferred). Candidate must hold a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, and be willing to manage the needs of flight students, as well as provide assistance with their training as necessary. Job requires a minimum of 40 hours a week, including both day and night operations. Candidates selected for employment will be subjected to a background check.

SALARY:

Pay Grade 23
