Texas State University seeks an exemplary and visionary candidate to join us in preparing reflective and equity-driven leaders for today’s global workforce. An ideal candidate will provide evidence of experience and potential in the areas of teaching, research, and service as follows.

Teaching
Teach a diverse group of undergraduate and graduate courses in interdisciplinary studies, including but not limited to organization, workforce, and leadership studies, as well as teaching and training methods. Teach courses online, on campus (San Marcos or Round Rock), and off campus; supervise interdisciplinary internships, practicums, and research projects; teach quantitative and qualitative research methodology; participate in curriculum development including online courses; participate in undergraduate prior learning assessment (PLA); serve on graduate exit committees.

Research
Promote a clear and sustainable research agenda aligned with Occupational, Workforce, and Leadership Studies resulting in research conference presentations and peer-reviewed/refereed articles in quality journals appropriate for a (R1) research university, which are supported by external and internal research funding. (Note: in fall 2019 “Occupational” will be replaced by “Organization” in the department name.”

Service
Service may include engaging in activities at the department, college, and university level that build relationships with other university departments, local businesses, and community organizations as well as participating in professional organizations.

Consideration for rank of Associate Professor will be reviewed by the Personnel Committee based on the College of Applied Arts’ Tenure and Promotion policy.

Required Qualifications

An earned doctorate degree with coursework and research emphasis in leadership, organizations, workforce development, interdisciplinary studies, or related field by appointment date.

A record of scholarship and publication commensurate with a (R1) research university.

Evidence of internal and/or external funded research commensurate with a (R1) research university.

Experience teaching online courses to undergraduate and graduate students.

Preferred Qualifications

Success at securing external funding commensurate with a (R1) research university.

Experience with online course development.

Experience teaching diverse, non-traditional students in online courses.

Experience teaching research methods.

Experience advising and/or mentoring diverse, non-traditional students.

Demonstrated ability to foster collaborative research with faculty and/or students.

A record of service on committees at department, college, institutional, or national levels.

To be eligible for hire at the associate professor rank, candidate must meet the requirements for that rank as established by the department. The successful applicant will receive the appropriate rank and title based on university and department established standards.
