The Department of Agriculture at Texas State University invites applicants for a position at the senior lecturer level to start in Fall 2019. We are seeking candidates to teach a variety of agricultural technology and mechanical systems courses primarily at the undergraduate level and serve at the department, college and university levels. The position is a nine-month non-tenure-line faculty appointment with a potential opportunity of teaching on summer term based on departmental need and student demand. The position has a contract term not to exceed five years, subject to annual reappointment review and renewable upon expiration of the initial term. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply. Required Qualifications

The applicant must have: (1) Master’s in agriculture engineering, agricultural and biosystem engineering, agricultural systems, agricultural systems technology or closely related field; (2) Documented evidence of willingness/experience in teaching a broad and diverse range of undergraduate courses in agricultural system/agricultural engineering (including introduction to agricultural engineering, agricultural structure and environments, agricultural power and machinery, agriculture electric and mechanical systems, and agriculture irrigation technology); (3) graduate level courses on farm power and machinery, structure and environment, electrical and electronic applications, and irrigation; and (4) Demonstrated ability to be an effective team player in a multidisciplinary environment.

Preferred Qualifications

(1) Ph.D. in agriculture engineering, agricultural and biosystem engineering, agricultural systems, agricultural systems technology or closely related field; (2) familiarity and hands-on practical experience with Texas agriculture (crops, livestock); and (3) proficiency in emerging areas of agricultural technology and mechanical systems, such as precision farming, sensor technology and instrumentation.
