Visiting Assistant Professor of English Education
The Department of English invites applicants to apply for a faculty position as Visiting Assistant Professor of English Education. The successful candidate will assume responsibility for providing instruction for pre-service teachers in English Education methods courses, supervising student teachers on the field during their semester of professional clinical experience, and for teaching composition in the day, evening and online programs. The assistant professor will maintain office hours, attend meetings, and participate in the governance of the college at the department, discipline, campus, and college-wide levels; and perform other duties within scope of this position as assigned by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of an earned doctorate in English Education or a related field is required.At least three years of full-time experience in teaching secondary English Language Arts courses in grades 9-12 is required. A current teaching certificate is required.
The candidate must have prior experience teaching English at the collegiate level, possess strong oral and written communication skills, and be able to teach at the learning support level. Demonstrated knowledge of instructional technology and knowledge of assessment practices in English Education is required. Must possess the ability to teach effectively using a variety of methods, relate to diverse students, and facilitate student learning.
SALARY: Salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications and experience.
