The Augusta University/University of Georgia (AU/UGA) Medical Partnership, located in Athens GA, is seeking an experienced, innovative medical educator (PhD, MD, DO, DVM or equivalent) in the area of Medical Immunology

Ten years ago, Augusta University and the University of Georgia partnered to create a four-year undergraduate medical education campus in Athens, GA in response to a state legislature-sponsored initiative to increase Georgia’s physician workforce needs. The AU/UGA Medical Partnership serves as an incubator for evidence-based medical education that combines the significant instructional and research resources of UGA, the state's flagship land-grant research university, with the expertise of the Medical College of Georgia (MCG) at AU, Georgia's only public medical school. Our medical students study basic and clinical science in a highly integrated, systems-based curriculum that incorporates active learning strategies into large and small group settings.

We seek an outstanding, team-oriented teacher who will share our excitement in continuing to build this dynamic and innovative educational program. This individual will be responsible for guiding student learning of content appropriate for a second-year medical curriculum, including basic concepts of immunology, antibody structure/function, primary immune deficiencies, autoimmunity, allergy, vaccines, and immunity/immune-related diseases of different organ systems. Preference will be given to candidates who also demonstrate a commitment to educational research or other research/scholarship. The AU/UGA Medical Partnership campus offers unique opportunities for medical education research, as well as research in cell and molecular biology, genetics, microbiology and an array of other disciplines through collaboration with faculty in the colleges of Arts and Sciences, Veterinary Medicine, Public Health, and other units across the UGA campus in Athens. Successful candidates will have a primary appointment at AU, with the opportunity for an adjunct faculty appointment in the appropriate department at UGA.
