Reporting to the Director for International Education, the Study Abroad Coordinator liaises with faculty to develop, market, and administer faculty-led short term abroad programs. Will also advise students and others interested in short-term study, internship or volunteer opportunities abroad. Develops programs and events orienting and encouraging student participation in international study.
STATUS: Full-Time, 11 Month, With Benefits
WORK HOURS: 8:30-4:30 Monday-Friday with occasional evening and weekend hours.
MINIMUM PAY: $40,841 / annual
ESSENTIAL AND RELATED FUNCTIONS:
- Coordinates all aspects of select W&L sponsored short-term study abroad programs. Manages the Spring Term Abroad program and application process.
- Advises students on study, intern and work abroad programs and academic issues.
- Serves as a member of the International Education Committee.
- Liaises with external program sponsors, university representatives, internship programs, and other international organizations.
- Assists with Study Abroad Fair and other events promoting study abroad.
- Develops and distributes content through the office’s social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
- Liaises with the University Registrar, Business, and Financial Aid offices and other administrative offices on and off campus.
- Assists the Director with program planning, evaluation, and other duties .
- Additional related duties as assigned.
- Plan and Coordinate - Sets clear goals, prioritizes work plans and monitors progress regularly with an eye for detail. Organizes situations or events with the aim of efficiently and effectively using the University's resources (e.g., workspace, equipment, tools, etc.). Makes an effort to involve others in planning and decision-making (i.e., seeks their input and commitment).

Consistently treats others in a manner that demonstrates a keen awareness and understanding of their needs. Listens attentively to ideas and concerns of others and makes others feel heard and appreciated. Gives credit and recognition to work group member's contributions when objectives are met, and makes suggestions to enhance work efficiencies.
BA degree is required with two years minimum of professional work experience, preferably within a higher educational counseling/advising/student affairs environment. Must possess the ability to communicate effectively and be collaborative while working with students, faculty, and program administrators. Study or other experience abroad is strongly preferred. Must be a proficient user of MS Office. Experience with Terra Dotta preferred.
- Fingering: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with whole hand or arm as in handling.
- Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
- Repetitive motions: Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (as in typical office or administrative work).
TYPES OF WORK:
Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
