CUSTODIAN-EVENING (3 POSITIONS)

REQUIREMENTS: Under the direction of the Custodial Supervisor, maintain buildings, furniture, and equipment in a clean, sanitary, safe, and secure condition.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: Clean, polish and sanitize building areas, furniture and equipment as assigned; sweep, scrub, mop, wax and buff floors; vacuum and shampoo rugs and carpets; operate equipment such as floor buffers and vacuum cleaners; provide general assistance to faculty and staff to assure efficient operations during the evening hours; clean and disinfect laboratories, toilets, and other plumbing fixtures; wash windows, dust, wax, and polish furniture and woodwork; respond to immediate or emergency cleaning or repair requests; set up furniture and equipment for meetings and events; rearrange furniture and equipment as required; clean chalkboards; refill paper and other sanitary dispensers; empty and clean waste containers; replace light bulbs; turn out lights and lock doors; report sanitary and safety hazards to the proper authorities; sweep walkways; maintain security of assigned area; assure doors and gates are locked when work is completed; inspect for vandalism and fire hazards; confer with Campus Police as necessary; report emergencies to police and/or fire department; notify supervisor of discrepancies noted in the performance of duties; perform related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: sufficient training and two years of experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed above.

SALARY & BENEFITS:
R. 10, Step 1-6, $2,975.00-$3,624.00 (plus 5% shift differential increment for evening and graveyard shift).
Initial placement for external applicants is Step 1. An excellent benefits package which includes medical, vision, dental, retirement, vacation, generous sick leave package, and life insurance is available for the employee and eligible dependents.

WORKING DAYS & HOURS:
Position 1 & 2: Monday-Friday: 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
Position 3: Monday-Thursday: 10:00 p.m.-6:30 a.m. AND Friday: 4:00 p.m.-12:30 a.m. (approximately).
Work schedule may be adjusted to meet the needs of the department.

STARTING DATE:
As soon as the successful candidate is identified and following the subsequent governing board approval. Successful candidate may be assigned to any of the campus sites (Chula Vista, Otay Mesa, National City and/or San Ysidro).
