Normal Work Schedule (Other):

Typical work schedule is M-F, 8-5, will rotate weekend on-call with facilities staff and must be available as essential personnel to assist before, during and after severe weather and other emergencies to include after hours and weekends.

 

Job Responsibilities

This position will manage complex construction projects, coordinate activities with college staff, design professionals, and contractors manage project funds and review project related technical documents. This position will also manage and provide technical review of project technical documents; change orders and progress payments; oversee planning and design work of architects, engineers, and other design professionals; and perform the planning and designing of a variety of complex engineering, construction and facilities engineering projects to be accomplished by both contractors and in-house maintenance staff. In addition, this position develops conceptual drawings for project requests and provides studies and recommendations for space allocations, site selection, and material specifications; prepares finished specifications and construction drawings, prepares and maintains master plans to include buildings landscape and utilities, and maintains record drawings and project files for all college facilities.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

This position requires a bachelor's degree in engineering or engineering technology and two (2) years journey-level engineering work experience.  A reasonable combination of education and experience will be considered such as a master's degree in engineering and entry level engineering work experience.  Registration as a Professional Engineer, Architect or Certified Building Official is preferred.   At least four (4) years of supervisory experience is also preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of engineering theory, principles and practices applicable to facilities design, engineering, maintenance, repair and construction; current technology applicable to facilities design, engineering, construction, maintenance and repair, state and federal laws and regulations, including building codes, life safety codes, environmental regulations, and safety laws of construction project management is essential.  The ability to perform complex mathematical and engineering computations; use a variety of personal computer based software, including AutoCAD and communicate effectively.
