Assistant Graduate Academic Counselor

Working on behalf of the Graduate Division and under the direction of the Assistant Director of Academic Counseling, the Assistant Graduate Academic Counselor serves as the conduit of information and referral for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars experiencing varying degrees of personal and/or academic distress in the context of being at UCI. The incumbent is the primary contact point for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars seeking assistance and for members of the campus community who are concerned about and are seeking assistance for students or postdocs experiencing academic or personal difficulty. This position works closely with Graduate Division staff, academic unit faculty and staff, the Campus Consultation Team, Counseling Center, Student Health Center (Mental Health Clinic) campus social workers and other campus and community resources to identify and refer as early as possible students and postdocs whose behavior suggests the need for counseling and/or other academic support services. Duties include case management, communicating with campus stakeholders for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars in need of mental health and other supportive services; active outreach to faculty, staff and students in academic units and Schools regarding Graduate Academic Counseling programs and services; fielding emails and referrals regarding distressed individuals; coordinating responses and services for individual cases and follow up on timely disposition of individual needs.

Salary: Monthly $4,102.17 - $5,577.75
Total Hours: 8-5, M-F
Contract Position.
