Position Description:
Under the general direction of the Management Services Officer (MSO), manage all aspects of graduate and undergraduate student affairs for the Department of Statistics. Advise undergraduate and graduate students on policies, procedures, and degree requirements; assess, communicate and record academic progress; compile pertinent data to make recommendations to the Chair and faculty about curriculum and student progress; produce requested ad hoc reports. In cooperation with the MSO, Department Chair, Director of Graduate Studies, and Director of Undergraduate Studies, build the department's annual schedule of classes based on the needs of graduate and undergraduate students. Submit requests for changes, updates, and revisions to departmental course offerings in the Course Inventory Management System (CIMS).

Manage the graduate student admissions process, including design and preparation of relevant materials, recruitment, application processing, and fellowship allocations. Respond to applicant inquiries. Evaluate foreign transcripts and credentials for compliance with UCLA and department standards. Create, maintain and update admissions databases as required to manage the admissions process. Counsel students on visa requirements and alien regulations. Plan and organize the annual New Graduate Student Orientation and participate in the annual Freshmen and Transfer Orientations. In cooperation with the Director of Graduate Studies, process fellowship payments to graduate students from departmental block grant.

Coordinate Academic Student Employee (ASE) assignments and process corresponding fee deferrals and fee remissions. Provide hiring information to payroll staff to ensure proper hiring of ASE staff. Coordinate Summer Sessions hiring of instructors and ASEs through the Summer Sessions Budget Planning site.

Assist the MSO in planning and directing the departmental commencement. Attend various outreach events as a representative of the department.
