General Summary of Position:

The Office of Residence Life Part-time Administrative Specialist (PTAS) assists in the overall day-to-day management of the Office of Residence Life. Specifically, the Administrative Specialist manages office phone calls and e-mail communication with the assistance of student employees and the Assistant Director of Residence Life. PTAS’s priority is to provide outstanding customer service for our students, families, and all members of our community. The PTAS also provides administrative support for the Office of Residence Life Leadership Team which includes one Assistant Dean, three Associate Directors and two Assistant Directors. General responsibilities include conflict management, customer service, supervision of student workers, calendar management, budget management, and tracking equipment maintenance/inventory.

Position Responsibilities Include:

Customer Service: Provide consistent, outstanding customer service with phone calls, e-mails, and walk-ins. Exercise conflict management with any issues that may arise.

Administrative Support: Provide administrative support for the Office of Residence Life Leadership Team, including managing calendars and monthly budget statements.

Operations: Assist in university housing operations including contracts, room assignments, room changes, billing, cancellations, refunds, and all associated mailings.

Front Office Assistance: Assist with training student Office Desk Assistants regarding office protocols, services, and customer service standards. Work with Office Manager and Assistant Directors to ensure office supplies are ordered.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • High School Diploma or GED/equivalent
  • Experience and understanding of effective customer service procedures
  • Experience with account and record keeping and the handling of monies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates or Bachelors Degree
  • Previous Higher Education Administration experience

This is a temporary, part-time, non-benefited, non-unit position (18 hours per week).
