From 2005 to 2016, College Advising Corps has served over 848,000 students in high schools across America. Today, after more than a decade of growth and impact, with more than 600 advisers, we serve students in 14 states, in high schools both rural and urban, from New York City to the Rio Grande Valley to the San Francisco Bay Area. During the 2017-18 academic year, the UChicago College Advising Corps held individual meetings with over 92% of the seniors within ten partner sites and helped 95% of seniors to submit at least one college application. UChicago College Advising Corps Advisers assist students with admission, financial aid, and scholarship applications. The Advisers support the guidance departments at each of their partner schools to develop and implement strategic plans to reach out to students and their parents, and to help them with college, scholarship, and financial aid applications. Advisers also work to increase the college-going culture at each of their schools by working one-on-one with students, conducting group presentations, and coordinating whole school events.
Additional Responsibilities
1)Work full-time in a Chicagoland high school as a post-secondary coach.
2) Meet one-on-one with high school students, guiding them through the college application and matriculation process.
3) Support families as they register for standardized testing, complete the FAFSA, submit college applications, and process financial aid letters.
4) Attend monthly training sessions with other advisers in the network.

2) Strong writing, public speaking, and presentation skills.
3) Ability to work with both students and adults in a professional and courteous manner.
4) Requires critical thinking, sound judgment, creativity, and a passion to help students overcome obstacles and realize their college-going potential.
5) Willingness to serve in high schools across the Chicago metropolitan area.
