Job Description Summary:

Housed within GW’s College of Professional Studies (CPS), Graduate School of Professional Management (GSPM) programs are delivered in flexible formats: face-to-face, online, or a blend of both. GSPM provides credentials for the workforce that uphold George Washington University’s rigorous standards of academic excellence and respond to the needs of today’s professionals.
GSPM is searching for a Research Scientist who would be responsible for executing the data analytic component of GSPM’s Peoria Project (https://gspm.gwu.edu/public-echoes-rhetoric-america-peoria-project) as it relates to the upcoming presidential campaign. This position will work with our Political Management faculty to maximize and leverage the data collected from our Crimson Hexagon subscription and from the research conducted as part of the Peoria Project. This position reports to the Director of the Graduate School of Political Management and will supervise student workers. This is a limited term, sixteen month position with an expected end date of December 2020. Extension of the appointment would be subject to availability of funding.

This position is responsible for planning, conducting and supervising research at a high level, by using quantitative and qualitative methods to design and develop, collect, analyze and report data activities. Using extensive experience and judgment, this role will plan independent research, analyze and interpret data, publish results, represent the university at conferences and meetings, develop new theories and methodologies, and will lead and direct the work of lower level research staff, while transferring technical expertise.

Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a master’s degree/PhD and at least 5 years of experience in a related discipline to include at least 2 years of research and/or college level teaching in a field basic to the work to be performed. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.
