Position Description

 

The primary functions of the Director of Infrastructure Services are to provide leadership and coordinate the activities of the Infrastructure Services Team. Install, configure, and maintain network components to a predetermined level for use within the campus environment.

As a member of Middle Leadership, this person will portray a broad institutional perspective which supports the College's mission, vision, and goals while fostering and creating an environment which strives to project and meet customer needs. A Middle Leader will support a shared leadership culture, through participation in and facilitation of teams. This person is accountable for developing and implementing the means to accomplish the College's goals.

Duties & Responsibilities

 

  1. Design, install, and maintain district's communication technologies to include Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN).
  2. Maintain and control network applications and communication technologies to ensure availability, adequate performance, and take corrective action when needed.
  3. Manage and maintain Storage Area Network (SAN) to ensure data protection and availability.
  4. Install, manage, and monitor, College Firewall and IDS appliances.
  5. Research, investigate and recommend new applications of network hardware and software to reflect the current technologies.
  6. Work with the Business Office in procuring capital equipment for the district.
  7. Oversee the budget for the Infrastructure Services Team.
  8. Direct and cross-train Infrastructure Services Team members with networking, WAN, LAN, SAN, Workstation Configuration, and related networking activities.
  9. Maintain current and accurate network documentation.
  10. Monitor and adhere to College wide backup solution.
  11. Ensure adequate security is installed and monitored to protect the information of the College.
  12. Install and maintain Window Servers and SQL servers.
  13. All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required OR an Associate's degree with the commitment to obtain a Bachelor's degree upon hire. Degree should have an emphasis in Information Systems or Computer Science or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Network operating system certification desired (CCNA, CCNP, MCSE). Two years of installation and configuration of network systems, wide area network, and network monitoring and troubleshooting techniques experience.

Additional Physical Requirements:
Vision: Adequate with aid to read instructions, labels, documents, computer screens, and differentiate between colors.

Hearing: Adequate with aid to understand oral requests, telephone conversation, and PA systems.

Required Employee Program Safety Training:
Emergency action plan, emergency procedures, ergonomics (office/workplace) and slips, trips and falls
