Area Coordinator

Description:
To assist the supervision and coordination of the Residence Life Educational program and the oversight of the first year experience residential housing; including, overseeing aspects of the community and individual development that occurs in the Residence Halls including RA trainings, RA programming, and Learning/Themed/Specialty Communities. The Area Coordinator supervises 2 Residence Directors and has shared supervision of 1 graduate student.
This is a live-in position with emergency on-call responsibilities.
Report To: Associate Director of Residential Life
Staff Direct Reports: 2 Resident Directors (RD)
Student Workers this position supports: Graduate Student, Office Assistants and Welcome Desk Assistants (Approx. Total: 125)

Campus Location: Boston Campus

Required Knowledge:
Masters degree in student personnel or other related field or equivalent experience.
A minimum of two years of significant contributions in a college or university Housing and Residence Life environment that included student staff supervision, housing operations, student programming, and administrative duties.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail required.
Must possess a solid understanding of student development theory and the needs of learning communities.
Must have a commitment to diversity and the intricacies of identities that communities may possess.

Preferred/Desirable Knowledge:
Competency with basic computer software programs such as Maxient, StarRez and Banner.
