DescriptionThe Institute for Biomedical Sciences (IBMS) is an innovative, forward-thinking, leading multidisciplinary research and education (degree-granting) institute dedicated to advancing fundamental and innovative biomedical research that improves human health as well as educating and training future generations of leading biomedical scientists and health professionals related to biomedical sciences.


IBMS is seeking to hire a Laboratory Technician II who will perform skilled work involved in conducting scientific research and help manage numerous aspects of day to day laboratory operations. Examples of the latter include procuring and making lab supplies and reagents, managing compliance, coordinating shipping/receiving and biologic analysis of biological specimens.  Examples of the former include maintainin mice, including conventional and germfree mice, perform experiments with mice related to metabolism and behavior. Analyze biological specimens such as blood/sera by ELISA.  Perform and manage cleanup and disposal of of biohazzardous waste.Order supplies, maintain lab equipment and reagents, maintain compliance with safety and animal use protocols. Ship/receive specimens as needed.Maintain mouse colonies, conventional and germ free. Conduct experiments in mice related to diet and behavior. Supervise MS and undergraduate students.



QualificationsBachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry or other natural science area and one year of laboratory experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
