Compensation Analyst

DescriptionJob Purpose: Ensure consistent application of Compensation policies andprocedures. Provide smooth workflow for the Compensation team by responding toand logging incoming requests, maintaining approval documentation, andanswering related questions. Ensure proper approvals and documentation forstaff employment changes including job evaluations and salary exceptions.Develop and maintain related databases.

 Major Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and respond to incoming requests for Compensation review. Ensure all requests are passed to appropriate Compensation team member.
  • Notify unit HR representatives of outcomes of Compensation reviews.
  • Create and maintain databases of all Compensation requests, job evaluations, salary exceptions, and special requests. Participate in creating reports related to compensation program administration.
  • Review staff Personnel Service Forms (PSFs) for Compensation actions and approvals for pay compliance. Review staff job offer exceptions against policy, and ensure proper approvals and documentation.
  • Ensure accurate and timely PeopleSoft position management, job code, title, grade, and job description updates. Work with other HR staff and unit HR representatives to troubleshoot and correct data and process issues.
  • Maintain electronic and paper files of Compensation requests and approvals. Follow document retention requirements and off-site storage procedures and timetables.
  • Provide input into Compensation workflow processes and procedures. Maintain compensation policies and procedures manual, and recommend policy changes and additions as appropriate.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to Compensation processes and data to ensure data integrity.
  • May assist in coordinating the acquisition, organization, storage, and access to compensation market data, job descriptions, and may participate in compensation surveys.

  • Basic Qualifications:
  • Education: Technical Diploma, Associates Degree or two years college course work or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Work Experience: Two to three years of related work experience.

  • Skills: This position requires skills in the use of office and spreadsheet computer applications, human resources management system tools, and maintenance of various databases. Requires strong detail orientation, organizational skills, ability to prioritize tasks, strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to maintain confidential information, and excellent customer service, investigative, and troubleshooting skills. Requires mathematical, analytical, and problem solving skills.
