Description:Under the administrative supervision of the Dean of the School of Education, the Associate Dean serves as a member of the School's leadership team and participates in the development and implementation of College and School policies, procedures and guidelines. The Associate Dean resolves issues and concerns that may arise with faculty, students and staff, works collaboratively with other Associate Deans across the college, serves on select committees as appropriate, acts as an annual evaluator for a portion of full-time faculty, teaches at least one class in the appropriate discipline per semester, and performs related duties as required or deemed appropriate by the Dean to accomplish the assigned duties and responsibilities of the school administration. On request, the Associate Dean performs the duties and responsibilities of the Dean in the Dean's absence. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Serves as coordinator for program and unit approval at the state and national level
  • Manages and maintains oversight of required external reporting related to Educator Preparation
  • Liaison with leadership team (chairs) and Senior Mentor
  • Conducts annual performance reviews for full-time and part-time Faculty
  • Maintains a half-time teaching and field supervision load
  • Provides direction and supervision for New Faculty Orientation
  • Serves on campus committees
  • Maintains all handbooks and procedure guides used in the School of Education
  • Manages student grade appeals and complaints that move beyond Chairs
  • Facilitates the tracking and progression of candidates through educator preparation programs
  • Facilitates discipline and inter-discipline textbook ordering
  • Develops schedule of meetings for educator preparation in collaboration with chairs
  • Serves as Acting Dean in the absence of the Dean
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum and Preferred Qualifications:REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Graduate Degree
  • Three years of experience as an Associate or Full Professor
  • Demonstrated evidence of leadership and effective collaboration

Position may require local travel. Ability to lift and carry files and materials. Ability to move from one office to another office on campus. Adequate vision, hearing and manual dexterity to interact with people in person, on the phone and in writing.
